"I am one of the Associate Directors at Michael Page Malaysia and have been fortunate to be with the business for nearly 10 years. I joined Michael Page in Perth, Western Australia in 2015 as a Graduate and relocated from Australia to Malaysia in early 2024.

WHow have you grown with PageGroup?

I joined PageGroup in May 2015 as my first role out of university, joining the office in Perth, Western Australia, where I am from. I had just completed a business degree with a major in Human Resources but felt an internal HR role wasn’t what I was seeking. I wanted a role with more of a commercial/sales element.

I was fortunate to find exactly that at PageGroup and spent the next nine years developing from a graduate trainee to an Associate Director in the Perth office, working with exceptional recruiters, leaders, candidates, and clients. I always knew I wanted to work internationally, so in early 2024, I transferred from Perth to the Malaysia office in search of a new challenge and opportunity to continue my professional development.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Having spent nearly 10 years with PageGroup, I have been exposed to much of what the business and recruitment industry offer. As I progressed in my career, what I found most rewarding evolved, particularly as I stepped into leadership and worked across multiple offices in different countries. 

Two key themes have remained constant. First, the people. PageGroup focuses on hiring those with similar values, particularly teamwork, collaboration, respect, and high performance. Second, the opportunity to create your own success. The effort you put in directly relates to the results you achieve.

WWhat attracted you to a career in recruitment?   

I landed in recruitment by chance. I never set out to find a role with a recruitment agency after graduating with my bachelor's degree. At the time, I was happy a company was willing to give me a chance to prove myself in a supportive, collaborative, yet competitive and high-performing environment.
